St. Mary’s College of Maryland President Rhonda Phillips, Ph.D., FAICP, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society. Omicron Delta Kappa President and Chief Executive Officer Jennifer L. Waller announced Phillips’ election to the national board.
“Omicron Delta Kappa is pleased to welcome Rhonda Phillips to our Board of Trustees. Her extensive leadership in higher education, commitment to interdisciplinary learning, and passion for strengthening communities align deeply with the ideals of Omicron Delta Kappa,” Waller said. “Her experience and perspective will be a tremendous asset to the Society as we continue to develop and support the next generation of leaders.”
Phillips became the eighth president of St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2025. She previously served as president of Chatham University and as founding dean of the John Martinson Honors College at Purdue University. A scholar and practitioner in community and economic development and planning, Phillips is a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners, a three-time Fulbright recipient and the author or editor of 34 academic books. She is also founding editor of the “International Journal of Community Well-Being.”
Founded in 1914, Omicron Delta Kappa recognizes and develops collegiate leaders and promotes collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship and service. The Society has a presence on more than 300 college and university campuses throughout North America.
