On September 24, St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM) Environmental Studies (ENST) Professor Barry Muchnick presented research on innovative higher education curriculum design at the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) Mid-Atlantic regional conference. Joining him were Sustainability Fellow Sarah Luersen, Kate Farm Regenerative Agriculture Fellow Cathy Apolot, and undergraduate ENST Research Assistants Mark Mitchell and Mariah Burrell. The presentation highlighted a community-engaged project within SMCM’s Environmental Studies Department to co-create a multi-year, three-course sequence spanning ecological restoration science, policy, and practice in partnership with regional practitioners, nonprofits, professional firms and community stakeholders.
