COSC students participated in the HenHacks Hackathon at the University of Delaware. The event is an in-person, team-based competition that includes project-building, workshops, games, and networking with industry sponsors. Teams from various colleges were present. SMCM was represented by Andrew Martinelli, Camilla Galeano, Josh Swanson, and Sophia Lin.
Over two days (Feb 28 and Mar 1), the team developed a community-based, interactive map designed to help people with disabilities. Using their tool, which they built using the Snowflake platform, users can interactively mark accessible features such as ramps, elevators, and automatic doors on a map.
Alongside building the project, the sutdents attended several workshops and events, including speaker lectures, hacking demos, and a career expo.
