Crystal Oliver Presents at SSAWW Conference

Crystal Oliver, senior lecturer in the Department of English, presented a paper at the Society for the Study of American Women Writers (SSAWW) 25th anniversary conference in Philadelphia. The conference, "Understanding Histories, Imagining Futures: 25 Years of SSAWW," took place Nov. 6-9, 2025, and included more than 80 academic sessions. Oliver's presentation, "From Rhiannon to Coven: Stevie Nicks and the Evolution of the Witch," was part of a four-lecture session titled "Witchy Women: Reconsidering the Figure of the Witch in Literature."

Her areas of teaching specialization include creative writing, the poetics of song, and feminist and multicultural critical approaches to the literature of music, magic, and addiction. At St. Mary's College of Maryland, Oliver also serves as an adjunct instructor of music and the director of the Chesapeake Writers' Conference. She is currently editor-in-chief of EcoTheo Review.
