Leeanne Carr ’78 was named the 2024 Catholic High School Veteran Teacher of the Year for St. Mary’s Ryken High School (SMR).The award recognizes from each Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Washington a veteran teacher who embraces teaching as a ministry, proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and demonstrates respect for the Catholic identity.
Carr is in her 44th year with the SMR community, where she teaches American history and moderates the school’s mock trial team. Carr majored in history at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and earned a master’s degree at Notre Dame of Maryland University.
