Professor Mertz Presents at Experimental Biology 2022 in Philadelphia

Professor of Biochemistry Pamela Mertz gave a poster presentation and a spotlight talk on “Teaching Collaboration Skills to Undergraduate Biochemistry and Chemistry Students” at the annual meeting of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) in Philadelphia on April 3, part of Experimental Biology 2022. Assistant Professor Shanen Sherrer and Associate Professor Geoffrey Bowers were co-authors on the poster.  Mertz was also a second author on another poster presentation, “Teaching Biomolecular Visualization Literacy: Guidelines for Developing Assessments, Images and Rubrics Aligned with the BioMolViz Framework” with authors from 9 other institutions.  In addition, in meetings before the conference, Mertz gave a presentation to ASBMB Council on ASBMB Student Chapters and lead a retreat for the Student Chapters Steering Committee.  She also served as a lead judge for the Undergraduate Poster Competition on April 2 and gave the introduction on April 3 for a presentation by Joseph Provost, winner of the ASBMB Award for Exemplary Contributions to Education.
