Professor of Music David Froom's composition, "Arirang Variations" for alto saxophone, bassoon, and piano, was performed at a concert in December in Kobe, Japan by members of the Yahyan Woodwind Quintet. This composition, written on commission from the Barlow Foundation in 2005, has been played regularly since the premiere at the University of Iowa, with a dozen performances by nine different performing groups in a variety of venues in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, and New York.
