St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s anthropology department presents Sameena Mulla, associate professor of anthropology at Marquette University, as the latest guest speaker in the Visiting Anthropologist Program. Mulla will discuss “Anthropology and Sexual Assault: U.S. Clinics and Courts in 21st Century,” on Monday, Feb. 25, beginning at 4:45 p.m. in Cole Cinema, Campus Center on the College’s campus. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Mulla is the author of “The Violence of Care: Rape Victims, Forensic Nurses and Sexual Assault Intervention,” which is based on research she conducted in Baltimore. She is currently studying sexual assault adjudication and trials in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with her collaborator, Heather Hlavka. In 2017, Mulla was awarded the Margaret Mead Award by the American Anthropological Association and the Society for Applied Anthropology.
