Biography

Rick earned a BA in Music from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and a Master of Music Degree from The Ithaca School of Music. Primary sax teachers were Dr. William Street and Dr. Steven Mauk. Jazz studies were with Robert Levy and Steve Brown. And, he has participated in masterclasses with, Donald Sinta, Fred Hemke, and Jean-Marie Londeix. He has served on the music faculties of The Tidewater Music Festival, The Red Lodge Music Festival, The Ithaca Community School of Music and Arts, The Ithaca College School of Music, Calvert County Public Schools, and St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Leading instrumental ensembles and teaching music has been a lifetime endeavor, working with primary school students through adult age musicians. He consistently lead concert bands, jazz bands and orchestras to exemplary ratings in adjudicated festivals. Often working as guest director and adjudicator for many different school systems. Performing has always been a joy, whether it’s Jazz, Classical, or Rock and Roll. Rick is a resident of Calvert County, MD. He lives with his wife Lorrain. They have three children Ian, Zoe, and Lea.
