The Center for the Study of Democracy presents the Benjamin C. Bradlee Distinguished Lecture in Journalism
Yamiche Alcindor, White House correspondent
“Truth in Journalism: Reporting on Politics and Identity in America”
Monday, November 8 at 7 p.m.
Michael P. O’Brien Athletics and Recreation Center
Alcindor will look at the current political issues facing America and share her experiences reporting on international, national and local dynamics. She will offer her observations on White House and Washington politics, her thoughts on how social justice issues impact the country’s future and her analysis of the latest stories surrounding elections. Alcindor will also talk about how her decision to pursue journalism came at 16 years old when she learned the tragic truth about the 1955 murder of Emmett Till and the launch of the civil rights movement, and how economic and racial segregation have impacted America and her own story.
