Good afternoon!

  • Randomized COVID-19 surveillance testing began yesterday, so you will see a jump in the number of tests administered at SMCM.
  • Active cases, which are positive COVID-19 cases, continue to be low. This number will rise as new COVID-19 positive tests are conducted or reported, and will drop after the individual completes isolation and no longer has symptoms. If an individual leaves campus, their case WILL REMAIN here until their case becomes non-active. Sometimes these numbers may not be on the "active cases" dashboard square for a full two weeks. This may be because of when testing occurred or when the Wellness Center was informed of a positive test conducted elsewhere.

We continue to receive feedback on the COVID-19 dashboard. Based on a significant amount of questions, we have made two changes to the dashboard.

  • First, the Isolation Beds metric has been changed. Previously, it provided the number of isolation beds available. This number is 22; should additional beds be needed, we may be able to create ore. The dashboard has been changed to "Isolation beds in use." This number more accurately reflects the information users have said they are interested in--the number of people in isolation on campus.
  • Second, a notes section has been added below the dashboard. This section will help provide additional information and transparency about changes, outlier numbers, and more.

We are continuing to work on presentation of our data. If you have any questions about the dashboard, please speak to: Paul Pusecker (staff); Shana Meyer (students); or Mike Wick (faculty).

Full data is on the dashboard-make sure to review it for complete information. The dashboard will not be updated over weekends.
