Reminder!

Free flu shots are available to faculty, staff, and students.  Many community members have asked if it is safe to get a flu shot during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the Maryland Health Department both strongly recommend the flu shot this year.

Please check these sources for more information and sign up below for your free flu shot from SMCM!

"Getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever during 2020-2021 to protect yourself and the people around you from flu, and to help reduce the strain on healthcare systems responding to the COVID-19 pandemic."   https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/flushot.htm

“Getting vaccinated for flu and continuing infection prevention measures is important every season but is particularly critical this season,” said Dr. Meena Brewster, St. Mary’s County Health Officer. “Decreasing the amount of flu virus going around our community helps reduce the burden on our healthcare system that is still actively responding to the COVID-19 virus.”   http://www.smchd.org/2020/09/flu-vaccines-strongly-advised-during-covid…
